Open-source Layer 1 blockchain combining Scrypt Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, with self-custody wallet software and public network…

Retro Boomer (TAPE) is a meme-inspired Proof-of-Work Layer 1 blockchain featuring CPU/GPU mining, a fixed 10 billion TAPE supply and a retro-internet identity.
Overview
Retro Boomer (TAPE) is an independent, meme-inspired Layer 1 cryptocurrency built around Proof-of-Work mining and nostalgia for the early internet. Rather than issuing a token on an existing blockchain, the project operates its own network with a native currency, wallet infrastructure and consensus rules.
The blockchain is implemented in Rust and is derived from the Parano1d architecture. It incorporates the HistoryStep recursive verification system, designed to support cryptographic verification of blockchain history, alongside a structured state model. The underlying architecture also includes mechanisms for native assets, contracts, NFTs and decentralised exchange functionality, although the availability and maturity of these features should be distinguished from their architectural inclusion.
TAPE uses a target block interval of approximately 60 seconds and supports CPU and GPU mining. Its published monetary policy establishes a maximum supply of 10,000,000,000 TAPE, distributed across ten emission stages. Each stage is designed to release one billion coins, with block rewards decreasing by half at successive transitions.
According to the project's documentation, there was no premine, ICO, presale or developer allocation. Its emission schedule also excludes perpetual tail rewards, leaving transaction fees as the intended miner incentive after the final subsidy stage.
Retro Boomer announced its v1.0.0 mainnet release on 31 October 2026, with public source code and wallet packages for Windows, Linux and macOS. Its long-term network adoption, technical reliability and ecosystem development remain to be established.
