Open-source Layer 1 blockchain combining Scrypt Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, with self-custody wallet software and public network…

Combining feeless transfers, sub-second finality and AI-oriented Useful Proof of Work, Qubic (QUBIC) is a Layer 1 network for smart contracts and decentralized computing.
Overview
Qubic is an open-source Layer 1 blockchain and decentralized computing network whose mainnet launched in April 2022. The network combines smart contracts, feeless transfers, sub-second finality and a computing model designed to direct mining resources toward artificial-intelligence workloads.
Consensus is coordinated by a dynamically selected group of 676 nodes known as Computors. A transaction or smart-contract result reaches consensus when at least two-thirds of the Computors — 451 or more — agree. Rather than permanently assigning validator positions, Qubic reassesses Computors each weekly epoch.
Qubic also uses Useful Proof of Work (UPoW). Miners perform computational tasks associated with artificial neural network training, and their performance contributes to the ranking used to determine which Computors participate in the following epoch. Unlike conventional Proof-of-Work mining, this work is not directly used to validate individual transactions.
QUBIC is the native asset of the network. It is used within Qubic’s economic system for smart-contract execution and other services, with portions of QUBIC consumed by contracts being permanently burned. The protocol currently targets a maximum circulating supply of 200 trillion QUBIC and uses an emission-and-burn model that adjusts net issuance over time.
Qubic smart contracts are integrated into the network’s core software and are written using a restricted C++ environment through the Qubic Programming Interface. The ecosystem also includes Aigarth, an initiative focused on decentralized artificial-intelligence research using the computational resources contributed through UPoW.
The project is fully open source, with its core node software, wallets, development tools and protocol implementations publicly available for independent review.
