Open-source Layer 1 blockchain combining Scrypt Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, with self-custody wallet software and public network…

Waifu-Core (WAF) was a CPU-mineable Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency using the Aurum algorithm, created around an anime-inspired ecosystem for digital collectibles and community applications.
Overview
Waifu-Core (WAF) was an open-source Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency launched in February 2024 with an anime-inspired identity and plans for an ecosystem centered on digital collectibles, community applications and tokenized content.
The network operated as an independent blockchain rather than a token issued on another platform. Mining used the Aurum algorithm, which the project promoted as suitable for CPU mining. Early published specifications listed an initial block reward of 5,000 WAF, with the reward scheduled to fall to 100 WAF at block height 150,000.
Waifu-Core's original plans extended beyond peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transfers. Project material described proposed support for WAF-20 assets and NFTs, alongside a marketplace concept aimed at anime, manga and gaming communities. These features should be treated as historical project plans rather than confirmed current functionality.
The project's node and wallet software were published openly on GitHub, with source code derived from Bitcoin-family cryptocurrency software. The repository contains Waifu-specific consensus and network components and was released under the MIT License.
Waifu-Core now appears inactive. Development activity in the principal GitHub repository dates to 2024, historical market data shows trading activity ending in 2024, and current market trackers report no active WAF markets. The profile is therefore retained by Chainquiry primarily as a historical record of the blockchain, its mining specifications and its original ecosystem plans.
