Overview
About Nebula
Nebula (NBLA) is an open-source Layer 1 blockchain launched in January 2023. The network uses Proof of Stake together with a tier-two masternode system, with NBLA serving as its native cryptocurrency for transactions, staking, masternode participation and network governance.
Nebula’s masternodes help validate transactions and participate in the project’s decentralized governance system. Operating a masternode requires 50,000 NBLA collateral and gives operators access to block rewards and voting rights on governance decisions and treasury proposals.
The network also includes SHIELD, a privacy system based on zk-SNARK technology that is designed to support shielded transactions. Nebula’s source code describes privacy, Proof-of-Stake participation, decentralized governance, fast transactions and wallet usability as core areas of the project.
Nebula is developed publicly through its open-source GitHub repositories. The project provides wallet software, masternode tools and blockchain explorers that allow users to inspect network activity independently.
