Overview

About Ragnarok

Ragnarok (RAGNA) is an independent cryptocurrency launched in 2018 with a focus on Proof-of-Stake participation, masternodes and peer-to-peer digital payments. The network was derived from PIVX technology and was designed to provide relatively fast transfers, low transaction fees and staking-based network security.

Ragnarok initially used a short Proof-of-Work phase before transitioning to its primary Proof-of-Stake and masternode model. The original network specifications list Xevan as the algorithm used during the early PoW stage, with Proof of Work ending at block 1,000. Subsequent block rewards are distributed mainly between masternode operators and PoS stakers, with later reward stages also allocating a portion to the project treasury.

Masternodes form a second network tier and require RAGNA collateral. The required collateral increased across different block-height ranges, eventually reaching 200,000 RAGNA under the published reward schedule. RAGNA has a stated maximum supply of 100,000,000 coins and the network targets approximately 60-second blocks.

The project originally promoted RAGNA as a currency for payments, staking and purchasing cryptocurrency-related equipment. Its earlier whitepaper also described features inherited from its PIVX-derived codebase, including SwiftTX-style rapid transactions.

Ragnarok currently shows limited signs of active development. The project's core GitHub repository lists its latest wallet release from April 2020, the official website's published roadmap ends in 2020, and the current explorer does not display recent transactions. External market trackers also report that regular RAGNA price data stopped in 2022. Chainquiry therefore continues to classify Ragnarok as inactive while retaining the profile for historical research and source verification.
